So, You've Decided To Outsource...

Updated: Jul 14, 2020

So, you have made the decision to outsource to a VA (Virtual Assistant), what's next? Now it's time to do your research. But what things are you checking for? Does it really matter?

The process of hiring a VA should not be dissimilar from hiring a person an employee. It's important you have a good idea of what you're looking for and making sure whoever it is you decide to outsource to, won't leave you in the lurch. Here are a few common mistakes that you should avoid when outsourcing:

- Not checking testimonials or asking for references.

- Not having a face-to-face conversation, whether it be via ZOOM or in person, with

those you are considering hiring.

- Not checking to see if they have put contracts in place for any work you ask them

to do - this is good practice as it serves as legal protection for both parties.

- Not checking their privacy notice & GDPR policies, to see how your data and

personal information is used. Also check that they are registered with the ICO

(Information Commissioners Office). This is the office that oversees Data Protection.

- Not asking if they are insured: Public Liability, Professional Indemnity & Cyber

insurance are 3 key policies to check for when outsourcing to a Virtual Assistant.

Whilst the first two are important, the last three are essential. These ensure you are protected on all fronts should something go awry.

At Middleton PA Services, we value you & your business' privacy and security. That is why we put contracts into place for all the work we do, are comprehensively insured and registered with the ICO. We also can provide you with testimonials and references and if you'd like a face-to-face chat, book one of our Free 1 hour consultations, via ZOOM to see who you'll be working with and how they can help you.
